Pneumonia Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease Prevention Vaccine

      Hand-foot-mouth disease is a common infectious disease in young children caused by enteroviruses, such as Coxsackievirus. The disease is usually found in children under 5 years old, particularly during the rainy season.

Symptoms:

      - Fever

      - Loss of appetite

      - Red rash in the mouth, cheeks, tongue, and gums

      - Red rash or blisters on the body, especially on the palms of hands and soles of feet

Transmission:

      Coughing, sneezing, eating together, or touching shared objects

Prevention:

      - Isolate infected children to prevent the spread of infection

      - Teach children the habit of "eating hot food, using a communal spoon, and washing hands"

      - Regularly clean toys and personal items

      - Clean table surfaces using disinfectant

      - Wash hands after using the bathroom to prevent fecal-oral transmission

     - Vaccination against hand-foot-mouth disease is available

            Currently, there is a vaccine for preventing hand-foot-mouth disease caused by Enterovirus Type 71 (EV71), a severe strain that can lead to encephalitis, myocarditis, or even death. The vaccine can be administered to children aged 6 months to 5 years in two doses, spaced 1 month apart.

Vaccine Recommendations for Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease:

      - Suitable for children aged 6 months to 5 years

      - It is an inactivated vaccine with two doses, spaced 1 month apart

      - The vaccine protects only against hand-foot-mouth disease caused by the EV71 strain

      - If the child has had the disease before, wait for 1 month after recovery before administering the vaccine
