Rotavirus and Diarrhea

**Rotavirus infection** is another common illness in young children, especially those under 2 years old. Rotavirus is the leading cause of severe diarrhea in children, which can lead to dehydration if not properly managed.

Transmission
Rotavirus spreads easily through contact with contaminated objects, such as toys, hands, or improperly cleaned food.

 Symptoms
1. Watery diarrhea several times a day
2. Vomiting
3. Fever
4. Fatigue or signs of severe dehydration (such as dry mouth, reduced urination, or sunken eyes)

Treatment
Rotavirus infections usually resolve within a few days. The primary treatment is to prevent dehydration by giving oral rehydration solutions or fluids to replace lost body water. If symptoms are severe, the child should be taken to a doctor immediately.

 Prevention
- Vaccination against Rotavirus is the most effective method to prevent the disease. It reduces the severity of the infection.
- Wash hands thoroughly before handling food and after changing diapers.
- Maintain a clean environment around the child, including cleaning toys and bottles.
